The Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) is set to launch\u00a0Lokpath App-2<\/strong>, a new digital platform aimed at making road travel safer, smarter, and more convenient across the state. The app is being touted as more safety-focused than Google Maps, with unique features such as\u00a0audio alerts at accident-prone black spots<\/strong>. Chief Minister\u00a0Dr. Mohan Yadav<\/strong>\u00a0will formally inaugurate the app on Saturday during a state-level PWD training program.<\/p>\n

A New Model of Technology and Safety<\/h3>\n

Developed in collaboration with Gujarat\u2019s\u00a0Bhaskaracharya Institute<\/strong>, Lokpath App-2 is being described as a first-of-its-kind initiative by any state government in India. Launched on the initiative of PWD Minister\u00a0Rakesh Singh<\/strong>, the app goes beyond navigation to focus on road quality monitoring and traveler safety. It will provide comprehensive and updated data on all\u00a0national highways, state highways, and major district roads<\/strong>\u00a0in Madhya Pradesh.<\/p>\n

Advanced Alerts at Black Spots<\/h3>\n

One of the app\u2019s most distinctive features is its\u00a0safety alert system<\/strong>. More than\u00a0450 accident-prone black spots<\/strong>\u00a0identified across\u00a0142 highways<\/strong>\u00a0in the state have been mapped in the app. As a vehicle approaches a black spot, the app will issue an\u00a0audio warning one kilometer in advance<\/strong>, advising the driver to slow down. A second alert will be given at a distance of\u00a0200 meters<\/strong>\u2014a feature not currently available on Google Maps.<\/p>\n

An All-in-One Digital Guide for Travelers<\/h3>\n

Lokpath App-2 is not just a navigation tool; it is designed as a complete digital travel guide. The app will provide information on\u00a0religious and tourist destinations<\/strong>, nearby\u00a0hospitals, police stations, hotels, toll plazas<\/strong>, and\u00a0toll charges<\/strong>. In emergencies, users can directly call an\u00a0ambulance or 911<\/strong>\u00a0through the app. In case of an accident, it will also guide users to the\u00a0nearest hospital<\/strong>\u00a0and show the\u00a0fastest route<\/strong>\u00a0to reach it.<\/p>\n

Public Participation and Engineer Accountability<\/h3>\n

The app encourages public participation by allowing citizens to report issues related to\u00a0road and bridge quality<\/strong>. Users can upload photos of potholes, cracks, or construction defects directly from the site. Complaints will be assigned to the concerned engineers with defined timelines for resolution, ensuring greater\u00a0transparency and accountability<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Special Training for Engineers<\/h3>\n

More than\u00a01,500 engineers<\/strong>\u00a0from across the state will participate in the state-level program on Saturday. During the event, a\u00a0Capacity Building Framework document<\/strong>\u00a0and a publication highlighting innovations from the past two years will be released.
